The Conductors was a short film and series of photographs inspired by the question: what if there was a choir of silent conductors? And what if they were all conducting one violinist.
The work was seen as a test for a new series of works, which explored orchestras: the power relationships between conductors and the musicians, dancers, music and the audience.
Thanks to the willing participants: Violinist Valery Andreev is conducted by conductors Richard Cock, Matheu Kieswetter and Mokale Kaopeng. The piece was photographed and filmed by Chris Saunders.
